Of Mice & Ben

For my 29th birthday, my amazing and gorgeous girlfriend Katy took me away for a few days to the Lake Arrowhead Spa and Resort.  It started off with her telling me to pack a backpack with two days worth of clothes and that we’re going to go for a ride.  I had no idea where we were going, but we hopped on our bikes and a few hours later and a nice curvy ride up the mountains we arrived at the resort.  This was by far the one of the best birthday presents ever.

What’s there to say about Kevin.  He’s one of those dudes that you can’t hate.  Trust me.  I’ve tried.  Really hard.  But there’s just something about those asian eyes that’ll pull you back in every time.  He’s a musician that has been signed to a few different labels, but you most likely heard his music during your ska phase way back when.  He played guitar in the christian ska band The O.C. Supertones.  These days he’s playing in a metal band with me formerly known as Follow Your Failure.  Here’s a portrait I took of him in front of my loft building in downtown Hell-A.

I’m the luckiest dude EVER. This gorgeous woman has, by some chance, deemed me worthy to call her boyfriend. Here’s a shot of her with some “high key” lighting.

This is my best friend, Steven. I’ve been best friends with this guy since the day we met in 2nd grade. We were 8 years old when we met. We are now 28 at the time of this post. For the past 2 decades, Steven and I have never NOT been best friends. We never fought about anything and we never take each other for granted. We have our own language that confuses the people around us. He’s the kinda dude that once you meet him, you’ll instantly want to be friends with him. There aren’t words to describe how awesome this dude is. So I’ll just leave it at that.

While leaving the loft today, I was approached by a transient asking for some change. When I told him that I didn’t have any, he then noticed I had a camera hanging off my shoulder. He went on to say, “At least take my picture, man.” This is the result.

Skater. Surfer. Musician. Awesome dude. Humorous. Devilishly handsome. Broski. Those are just a few words that describe this gentleman.
